SMART is a new adaptive module of reasoning tests designed to measure an individual’s specific reasoning skills useful in problem-solving, learning and decision-making.
Unlike a traditional test, an adaptive assessment will adapt the difficulty level of the questions presented to the test-taker according to how they answered the previous questions.
SMART is composed of a series of verbal, numerical and logical tests that determine how well an individual performs tasks related to a specific aspect of intellectual ability.
Selection for Business Schools
SMART is especially useful for high volume recruitment, as it minimises the risk of cheating, and ensures that each candidate receives varied items appropriate for their ability level. The reasoning skills measured are linked to the general factor of intelligence, and have been widely demonstrated as the most reliable predictors of performance in the workplace.Employees with higher intellectual ability are better prepared to learn job-related skills quickly and adapt to the environment, thereby improving their potential to succeed in a particular role.
SMART helps identify students who have the ability to succeed in an industry or institution by giving a clearer picture of their aptitude and learning ability.Individuals with a higher intellectual ability tend to respond better in academic training and work environments, and are able to find the necessary resources to succeed.
An employee's ability to develop new skills, face new challenges, and learn from training is a strong predictor of their future performance.Identifying an employee’s reasoning abilities allows employers to predict which areas they will most likely excel in, thereby providing valuable information on which future tasks and projects they should be allocated.
Adaptive format with items presented at ability level of each test-taker
Better test-taker experience and increased objectivity and reliability
Allows a better differentiation of individuals with higher intellectual ability
Adaptive format reduces the risk of cheating
